Book I Melody begins with the understanding of musical sound and the piano keyboard.  You will then learn how to play, improvise, and create musical patterns as well as play common melodies using 3 - 5 white keys with both hands. Single-hand positions are used in the lower and higher piano ranges. A video link is given on each page to demonstrate musical examples. For an absolute beginner from age 10.

 

Book II Chords begins with hands-on experience with white key intervals (the distance between two keys) as the foundation of different scales used for melody and chords in creating harmony. Learn how to build, play, and improvise white key chords in different positions and progressions with both hands. Coordinate right-hand improvisations of single keys and the melody Ode to Joy with left-hand chords in one position. In addition, chord improvisations are shown for creating endings as well as accompaniment for group singing. A video link is given on each page to demonstrate musical examples. Book III Keys begins with building and playing the major scale from C, F and G, called keynotes or keys, using black and white keys. 

 

Using these 3 scales or keys you will:

  1. play the melody Ode to Joy in different positions,
  2. identify and build the 3 major chords,
  3. play and improvise these chords in one position with both hands and
  4. coordinate right-hand improvisations of single keys as well as the melody Ode to Joy with left-hand chords in one position.

 

In addition, you will learn how to find other keynotes as well as develop basic piano skills. A video link is given on each page to demonstrate musical examples. For any level of piano student from age 10.

 

Book IV More Chords and Keys shows you how to build and use different kinds of chords. Learn to play and improvise these chords and chord progressions with both hands as well as coordinate right-hand improvisations with left-hand chords in one position. In addition, you will build other scales and play and improvise the white key A minor scale or key. In this minor key, you will play the melody Ode to Joy as well as identify, play, and improvise the most important chords and chord progressions. In addition, you will learn how to find other keynotes for both the major and minor scales. A video link is given on each page to demonstrate musical examples.
